I hope all of you that were able to attend the first ever virtual Capricon41 last weekend had a good time. Sadly I lost my internet connection around 9pm on the 5th. So missed most of it. With any luck by the time Capricon42 rolls around it will be safe to hold a live convention again.
For all of those who also missed out on the virtual Capricon41 on this Valentine’s Day, I’d like to share what my latest finished piece. I shared in the Art Show’s Discord for “Just finished Friday”. ( Before I my DSL modem died.)
In the interest of full discloser the illustration in the image above was not my original composition. It was copied from one of the many Dover books full of copyright free images for artists and crafts people.
Below is the exact image I copied.
I’m sharing is with you so I can address an issue that I’m certain many of us have dealt with this last year, artist block. We all go through times when doing art feels trivial, the craziness and weight of real world matters makes it hard to create. One way to find your way out of artist block is coping. I am not advocating plagiarism. Finding copyright free images is best for this practice if you intend to sell your finished work. Usually in the process of coping my creative juices start flowing and I start thinking of ways I would draw things differently.
